SkySession Back

Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 June 2026

SkySession is an astrophotography session planner. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and the control you have over it. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising or tracking.

What we collect

When you create an account we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password. The equipment, observing sessions, notes and result images you add are stored on your account so they sync across your devices. If you use the app without an account, this data stays only on your device.

Location

With your permission, the app reads your device location to compute object visibility and frame your sessions. This calculation happens on your device — your location is not transmitted to our servers or shared with anyone.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the app: authenticating you, storing your gear and sessions, and computing observing plans. We do not profile you, run ads, or share your data with advertisers.

Third parties

Sky-survey imagery is loaded from the CDS hips2fits service to show object previews. Our API is hosted by our infrastructure provider. We use no analytics or advertising SDKs.

Data retention & deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app (Account menu → Delete account). Deleting your account immediately and irreversibly removes your profile together with all your equipment, sessions and images from our servers.

Security

Traffic between the app and our API is encrypted over HTTPS. Access tokens are stored in the device keychain. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
